Veterinary Intern

Dr. Wendy Banta-Long

Dr. Wendy Banta-Long was raised in Porter, Indiana, a small town just an hour outside of Chicago. She attended Denison University for her undergraduate degree and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine for her graduate degree.

Her passion for veterinary medicine sparked in high school and rapidly grew after working in a veterinary emergency clinic prior to attending OSU. After working a summer at a small animal and exotic general practice, Dr. Banta-Long’s love for exotic medicine developed. This clinic also collaborated with Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, so she had the opportunity to work with a variety of wildlife including squirrels, songbirds, chelonians, and even a juvenile mute swan! During her fourth year of veterinary school, Dr. Banta-Long experienced wonderful clinical externships at both general and specialty practices that provided companion exotic and avian care. CBEAM was one of those externships and the experience encouraged Dr. Banta-Long to pursue an exotic/avian internship after graduating from tOSU. During school, she also had the opportunity of volunteering at the Ohio House Rabbit Rescue and joined the exotic and zoo/wildlife clubs.

Dr. Banta-Long is excited to join the CBEAM family and to nurture learning and awareness of exotic medicine and husbandry care! Beyond connecting with clients and their pets, her veterinary interests include preventative care and surgery for all species.

Additionally to veterinary medicine, Dr. Banta-Long loves to hike/camp with her dog and friends, read Stephen King novels, and loves to cook delicious meals! She currently lives with her shepherd mix dog, Tigger, and three African Dwarf frogs. Someday, she hopes to adopt a few rabbits and other small critters.
