Veterinary Intern

Dr. Sarah Abdelmessih

Dr. Sarah Abdelmessih grew up in the Midwest before earning her DVM from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, she completed a rotating internship at MSPCA-Angell West in Boston, MA.

Dr. Abdelmessih's journey into veterinary medicine began with a range of hands-on experiences, including volunteering with wildlife, managing livestock, and working at a tiger sanctuary. Throughout vet school, she worked at the Janet Swanson Wildlife Health Center, where she especially enjoyed working with raptors and witnessing the successful rehabilitation birds fly back to the wild. During her final year of vet school, Dr. Abdelmessih further honed her skills through externships at aquariums, zoos, and companion exotic clinics. These experiences solidified her desire to become a specialist in avian and exotic companion medicine.

Dr. Abdelmessih is excited to pursue a specialty internship in avian and exotic medicine at CBEAM, where she looks forward to advancing her clinical knowledge and skills in this collaborative environment. Beyond connecting with clients and their pets, her professional interests include surgery and critical care for all species.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Abdelmessih enjoys exploring all things nature, particularly camping and kayaking. Since moving to the West coast, Dr. Abdelmessih’s chickens and fish have been re-homed to her parents. Although she doesn’t have any exotic pets with her at the moment, her cat, Luna, thinks she’s a wild animal.
