Veterinary Intern
Dr. Bee O'Malley
Dr. Bee (Brianna) O'Malley, a native of Westchester County, NY, is excited to join the CBEAM team this summer!
She graduated from Juniata College in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in environmental science. During her undergraduate studies, Dr. Bee completed an internship with the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Wildlife in Lynnwood, WA, which sparked her interest in veterinary medicine. After completing a veterinary technician program in 2013, Dr. Bee worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for 7 years in practices that treated small animals, companion exotics, and wildlife. She collaborated with multiple exotics and small animal veterinary specialists, which inspired her to pursue veterinary school.
In 2024, Dr. Bee graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. During her time at Tufts, she worked as a student technician in the Zoological Companion Animal Medicine Service and externed at the San Diego Zoo, further expanding her expertise in zoological and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Bee has worked on several research projects in exotic animal medicine, including investigating non-surgical sterilization methods for birds using domestic chickens as a model and a retrospective analysis of ferrets with urethral obstruction. In addition to her studies and clinical work, she served on the Tufts Veterinary Council on Diversity (TVCD), helping promote diversity and inclusion within the veterinary community.
Dr. Bee is currently finishing up a split internship at Tufts University in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) and Zoo Companion Animal Medicine. Dr. Bee LOVES teaching and has taught in several veterinary technician programs, as well as presented continuing education lectures for veterinary technicians and students.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Bee enjoys spending time at home with her husband, her beloved cat Luna, and her Russian tortoise, Koopa. A passionate ice hockey fan, she also enjoys crafting, trivia, and exploring new places.
