Amy

Amy is one of our dedicated Veterinary Assistants. She has a Bachelor’s in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology from Western Washington University, as well as a Master’s in Environmental Education from Miami University. She is currently in school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Previously she worked at Woodland Park Zoo for 12 years as an Educator and Exhibit attendant. The majority of her time was spent working in the Butterfly exhibit and with the Silverspot butterfly conservation project. She also provided the opportunity for visitors to touch and interact with a variety of farm animals, reptiles, and insects. Prior to moving to CBEAM, she worked at the Pacific Science Center as an animal caretaker. She cared for a wide range of creatures including tide pool invertebrates, insects, reptiles, and Naked Mole Rats. Her family includes herself, her husband, an Australian Cattle Dog named River, a Blue-Tongued Skink named Zeus and a Kenyan Sand Boa named Shai Hulud. Aside from work she enjoys reading, dancing, hiking, and biking.
