Post-Mortem Examination

In the event that your exotic pet has passed away, post-mortem examination (necropsy) can be performed to try to identify the cause of your pet’s passing.

Post-mortem examination is an important tool that can often diagnose the cause of death and help guide treatment (if indicated) for other animals in the household. Tissue samples can be collected and sent on for further testing, if indicated. Whether this information is used to obtain closure from the loss of a beloved family member, or to help maintain the health of your flock or collection, your pet will be handled with the utmost care and respect.

Your veterinarian can speak with you if you have any questions about whether a post-mortem examination is the right choice for your situation.
